lemon verbena rooted cutting

I have a rooted lemon verbena cutting in a pot.  What is the best way to try to overwinter this?  I don't have a greenhouse and think that my ancient cold frame is not warm enough. Any advice welcome please. Many thanks, Mags

A windowsill. It won't survive a heavy frost. It may lose its leaves, but don't give up too soon. they often come into leaf very late in the season.
  • thanks, fidgetbones.  fingers crossed!  Mags

Is it the shrubby plant with little lilac flowers? (Aloysia citrodora)
I put ours in a unheated blow away. Also left the odd one out against a sheltered wall.
But we are in the South, I didn't know they were that tender, I would go with fidgetbones if it is still soft, but find once woody and shrubby they do pretty well. I think the smaller plants I have lost have been down to combination of cold and having wet compost, more than the cold.
We have a very old one been in the same pot for around twenty years, poor thing I hardly give it a second thought in the cold, it even came through beast from the east.
As fidgetbones said they leaf up late.

I bring mine indoors over Winter, on a windowsill in an un-heated spot. It will lose its leaves (and look dead) but it should survive. It will need a little watering - probably weekly (I sometimes forgot).
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Thank you everyone.  The tiny rooted cutting can come into the house and the parent in  a big pot can go into the coldframe and home for the best.  Thankyou all. Mags
