Autum Lawn feed - cheaper alternative

Hi,

I would like to feed my lawn with something like "Evergreen Autumn Lawn Care". I don't have any moss or weeds, so I just need something for improving the roots but at a lower price. Is there anything you can recommend?

The ingredients in the Evergreen product are seaweed.

    Bonemeal - I use it on my lawn to strengthen roots so it get's a good start in the spring
    I also scattered seaweed meal around the same time.
    Just the right time of year to do it too.

    Do you use that as directed on the tub or a bit less Pete?

    But not bonemeal if you have foxes ....or there may be a few holes the next day!  ;)

    Seaweed is ideal - I use the liquid stuff as opposed to the meal that Pete has mentioned.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I bought a 7Kg box from Amazon and just sprinkled it on by hand - I probably used about 70g/sq metre (2 handfuls) bonemeal and about 35g/sq m with seaweed meal.
    I just used the bonemeal last year and was impressed by the results in the spring. But I've got a big sack of seaweed meal, so put that on too this year.
    We have many foxes, but the lawn hasn't been damaged since.
    My dog however was sick the day after I spread it - and it was mostly bonemeal.... it's not happened since

    My dog digs up any soil where I dress with bonemea. This is a shame because it is good and simple to use. Phyll

    @Phyllis8 Perhaps try the seaweed instead.
    Though you might be missing a trick if you need a flower bed dug, just use the dog :)
    It is a timely post as I was thinking I ought to do something to help ours along.

    Liquid seaweed feed does the trick for me.
