Plant or weed?

Not sure where this came from, possibly a random seed from a wildflower/cottage garden seed packet. It's survived the New Zealand winter and is now around 1m tall. No sign of any buds/flowers though..... any ideas? Thanks :smile:

    looks like a hellebore, a plant that flowers early in the new year, if its from seed it might take a couple of years to get to flowering size

    This is a UK based forum with one or two European and Commonwealth offshoots.   

    I have no idea if that plant is a weed or something decorative and desirable but there's probably an NZ website of weeds you could consult.   This one, for instance - https://www.weedbusters.org.nz/weed-information/weed-list/
