Id needed

Hi this plant grew in the pot where my mahogany tree was. It died and at first I thought this might be tree sending up a shoot from the roots but the leaves are not right and the stem is soft not woody like a tree.

Could it be a peace lily?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I don't think so. That room gets a lot of light and heat which peace lilies don't like. They also are smaller in height. I've never planted peace lilies either so it's unlikely.

It might be a Musaceae shoot (that is, some banana or banana relative; for the veining in the leaves; anyway, something growing from an underground growth- tuber, corm etc).

I don't remember planting any seeds like that in the pot but I guess it could be. If it survives the winter I'll have another go at trying to ID it.

Definitely looks like an aroid of sorts, peace lily or arum or similar.
