Red currents

Morning, newbie question! I’m very new to gardening and have some red/ black currants. Now that they are finished this year do I cut the canes to the ground? Thanks

    Hi John
Red/Blackcurrants bear fruit on wood that grew the previous year, so if you cut all the branches to the ground, you'll have no fruits until the year after.
The usual approach is to cut out the oldest branches to leave about 6 younger ones.
There's an RHS article here that describes the best approach
    Best of luck

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
