ID please,

This has just sprung up in a dry remote part of the garden. Tulip shaped and size of flower, no leaves, I'm thinking some kind of anemone?

  • Autumn crocus. Naked lady because it has no leaves. AKA Colchicum autumnale.

    Long, strap shaped leaves appear in the spring then die back.

    They look best growing thru other, leafy ground cover as this supports the flower stems - especially in a wet and windy autumn - and also disguises the leaves in spring.
