Plant ID please. This was cutting I took from friend who didn't know what it was called

    Think it's Cistus, rock rose.

    I thnk it's the plant I've just mentioned on another thread Joyce - Convolvulous cneorum  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Definitely convulvulus - if you mean the plant in flower, as Fairygirl says. Tough as old boots they are.

    I had one in a previous garden dappledshade - didn't survive it's first winter  :D

    Oh no! I suppose tough down here in London then  :) though mine struggled a bit last winter too.

    Thank you for that Ive looked it up and it is it. I may have to lift it and put it in greenhouse to survive our winter here in Orkney

    Ah - yes, it might struggle a bit, island gardener!  :D
    It's the cold, wet ground that makes it tough for them. Best to lift it  :)
    dappleds - even in the best site I could give it, with good drainage, the prolonged wet winters here, and cold ground that takes ages to warm up and dry out, are no use for them. Pity - as they can be quite delightful.
