Hello,

I need some assistance with a my Frantoio Olive Tree.  I live in Florida, zone 10a, and I purchased this tree about 8-10 years ago but it has never flowered.  About a year ago the head lawn guy for the community I live in said it needed to be pruned in order for it to flower.  He pruned it for me but still nothing.  I have never fertilized it but I believe that may be the problem but I don't know what it needs.  I would like to go as organic as possible and I read on line that most olive trees like Phosphorus and Potassium.  Does anyone with experience with Olive Trees have any thoughts on this?

I greatly appreciate any assistance.

Hi Skylark. First of all let me advise you that this is a UK site with some members slightly further afield in Europe. I think that the Olive is having to compete with the grass (?) for water and nutrients and if it were me, the first thing I would do would be to clear a circle around the tree and keep that citcle clear of all other growing things. Feeding and mulching would be my next action but there will be people on the forum who have experience of growing Olive trees who will be able to help you much better than I can. Perhaps you can find and American forum where there will be knowledgeable people too.
