Goji berry bush out of hand

I am asking for your help and advice on behalf of my mother, who is a keen gardener presently very distraught. She purchased and planted a goji berry plant about 4 years ago. It bears tiny fruit - almost not worth the effort of picking it, but the main problem is, that it spreads everywhere in the garden. She is now in tears as it kills her other plants and vegetables. She has been pouring boiling water over it, digging it out but no use. Could anyone help with suggestions on how to get rid of it for good? All ideas are welcome.

cutting it down, every shoot, every time it appears will weaken the plant, maybe not kill it but make it manageable
  • Thank you ju1i3.
  • cut it back and wipe with a paintbrush the freshly cut ends of the stems with the weedkiller SBK (stump and brushwood killer) this will travel into the plant and kill it and any runners that are still attached to it. You may have to do another treatment next year for any runners that have detached themselves from the parent plant.
  • I gave up with mine, dug them up and chucked them out. Grew like weeds and produced nothing!I too was lured by the ads that it would produce lots of health giving berries!
  • Thank you both, for commenting and the advice. Will definitely try it.
