If you dont like growing your own, you dont need a potting shed or a greenhouse, just a shed, I would say, get the biggest you can, they ver soon become "outgrown" Dyers,,- definitely shed envy here! Hubby demolished ours last week, very large bonfire, it was rotten (we have 3 greenhouses, 2 full of tools at the moment) I had a new potting shed last year (also now full of tools!) bought that online BAD IDEA!, this time we have looked at them in the flesh, hae now desided summer house not to posh or expensive (dont have the money) are going to block off part as shed, summerhouses bit in the front. Hubby has kept wood worth keeping from old shed and is going to make a small tool storage one to go on the veg plot.
Going to do the same as you, the front to sit in look at the garden, double doors in the front, couple of side windows, veranda, so you are sheltered from the wind and rain. We looked at fancy sheds, summerhouses at Hampton Court Flower show, around £12k mark and they were rubbish, they way the were made, cheap and nasty, but not cheap.
We have a company nearby and they only cost between 500 to 1000 so not as expensive as some I've seen. You do have to factor in the cost of wiring and base, but it depends on how handy you are as to how much you can do yourself.
I think it's very important to go and look for yourself. Mine is a shed masquerading as a summer house, this one https://www.shedcentremarkstey.co.uk/90270/info.php?p=17&pid=1819572&ack=9 but I didn't have the window boxes - too small to be practical. I paid extra to have it put up but it was untreated. Two coats of preservative + three of shed paint and it had better flippin' well outlast me!
I inherited a cheapo summer house with the garden but it's not a great design. Nowhere near enough glass/light. It's no good for growing on cuttings. I would advise going for as much glass as you can with insulation and double glazing (probably pretty standard in summer houses these days".)
Def'ly go and test them out - don't buy online. Treat it like buying a bed. Bounce about, sit on it, lie in it, kick it, check every angle for quality and comfort.
Hmm, I think once I start thinking about summer houses and cabins, I’m thinking about entertaining - not somewhere I want to hang tools, cut wood and spill compost. And I think that’ll be in a different part of the garden. And large enough for four people.
Not a lot of recommendations for a greenhouse, so I guess I’ll stick with a shed for now.

That’s a nice looking building. How many people can you get in comfortably?
@DyersEnd .............I have serious shed envy! Beautiful! @dappledshade...........I'm sure you could have something built to your own specs for the cost of that one
@Mary370 Definitely! Probably an entire studio flat 😃
Can't say I've done any entertaining in there Tin pot but at a guess two people wouldn't trip over each other even with all the tools/BBQ/shelving etc. and there'd be room for a couple of chairs. If it were empty? Not sure but our first house (2 up, 2 down job) the front room wasn't a lot bigger than the shed and we had some epic although not huge parties in there
We havent recomended greenhouses tinpot, because you want to sit in there, not grow your own, I expect a huge ammount of us have greenhouses, I have 3.Have you ever wtached George Clarke Shed of the Year, amazing! We did have a cheap (Homebase) summer house done up like a beach hut in our last house, 6 by 6, our daughter used to do sleepovers with her friends in it, it got a lot of use.We di look at Yurts I think made in Norway at Hampton Court, about £10k, beautifully made, fire in the middle double glazed, sleeps 4, delivered and erected for that price.
