    Delphinium consolida, Larkspur

  • Thank you nutcutlet - I have never grown this flower before - although I am familiar with the name Larkspur.  Do you know if it is easy to grow - I am keen to collect the seed if I can and does it normally flower in September?  Most of the other plants have finished flowering now.

It can be slow to germinate, probably triggered by the rain after the dry. I find sowing while it's still cold, early in the season, works well

  • You can buy the garden variety of larkspur more or less anywhere. its very easy to grow in spring and will produce flowers like a garden delphinium in a variety of colours about 18" tall.
  • Thank you nut & Zero - I will try my luck in the Spring if I can get hold of the seed from these flowers.
  • What an amazing colour.
  • Vivid I would call it dappledshade - one of my favourite words (sad I know).
