Could this be hops?

Hubby walking to station this morning saw this growing through a hedge, he asks is it hops?

  • Seems an odd thing to be growing on the side of the road in a hedge.🤔

It's a native (or possibly naturalised) plant and just the sort of thing to be growing through a native hedge

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Its on the edge of what was a farm before it was built on (heavy horses) amazing it's still there 30 years later.
  • I see loads of hops growing wild in hedgerows all over East Anglia ... local folk used to use them to brew beer back in the day.   We also used to go out and gather them to decorate the local pub when in lived in a more rural spot.

  • Never seen hops before in Lincolnshire and I have travelled all over , and never spotted hops elsewhere, but maybe not been looking at the right time of year.😁
  • Spent most of my childhood playing in hedgerows and dry ditches  :)
