It seems to be tragic to blame the pear tree and compost it, I'm not convinced it's the problem unless you have a lot of rotting fruit on or around the tree and that is infested too. They tend to be attracted to sources of CO2 ie. fermentation. The detective in me is thinking something has fermented whilst you were on vacation. It may not smell to you. Once hatched they will spread and look for more pleasantries. As I said earlier, they will soon be gone as the seasons progress and carry on with the traps.
