Green tomatoes

My outside tomatoes are all green can i remove leaves to help as there covering most of fruit.

    Removing leaves will not help ripen them, but it's ok at this time of year to do so if you wish.
    It's heat that ripens them - around 25-30c (max) is ideal.
    Once the skins begin to change from dark green to a lighter green while on the plant, the ripening process has started, at this stage you can then remove the toms and ripen indoors

    Hi tripleotransport - you can also cook and eat green tomatoes - they are rather sharper than their red versions but you don't have to worry if they don't all ripen. :smile:
  • If you wrap green toms in newspaper, they eventually ripen
