Peony

When is the best time to repot my peony. I only have a container garden. I've had it for almost 3yrs. It flowered last year. This year I've not had any flowers. Not sure how I've upset it.

  • Peonys are fussy. In particular they do not like being planted too deep, if you do they will not flower. Often they take a few years to settle down. I would have said they are not a pot plant but I hae seen them in flower at garden centres - so it is possible

It'll need a decent sized pot if it's that age. They are much better in the ground, but if you can't do that, give them a really generous container.
They also need a fair bit of feeding - what sort of medium is it planted in, and have you refreshed that each year?
Good drainage, and not too deeply planted as 001 has said. All those things are important for keeping them happy. Nice sunny site too.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
