Clematis Transplant

in Plants
I’ve got the builders coming in and they want me to remove a couple of clematis so they can carry out the work. The clematis are in full flower at the moment so not the greatest time to be messing about with them.
I would like to put them back when the building work is finished so my question is what is the best way to get them out, look after them and then replant in a couple of months?
Thank you.

As Lizzie says - cut them back and water before lifting. Try and get as big a root ball as you can, and have the pots all ready to put them in. They're fairly tough, and as the weather is a bit more favourable now, it should be easier to keep them happy until you're finished the work. Fingers crossed
What varieties are they?
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Excellent advice from Lizzi27 and Fairygirl
In answer to FairyGirl they are heracleifolia Stans and Piilu.
I cut them back and potted them today but it was such a shame because the heracleifolia was absolutely covered in flowers and bees.
