I do appreciate the scent , colour and wildlife attraction of this plant ; the invasive habit and damage it can do to buildings is a negative point for me though .
I have several in the garden, they have never caused any trouble. But then, my chimney stack is well pointed so they can't seed into it. I had one seed itself just below the front wall. Although I left it several years, it was easy enough to remove when I had the drive resurfaced.
I don't like them simply on appearance I have seen some nicer variations than the boring purple one I have...and I can tolerate them amongst other plants...however, my one is in a prominent and solitary position in front of my house
Maybe if I don't prune it, it will uproot itself one windy day
Not all buddleias are the same ... we have B. davidii 'Miss Ruby' in our front garden ... she's absolutely gorgeous with magenta blooms, loads of flowers attracting loads of bees and butterflies, doesn't grow too large and virtually sterile so no problems with unwanted seedlings ... love her!
