  I mentioned the other day that I was hoping to remove two from my garden and my gardener handed me a bill hook and a mattock! 
  I think the answer might be "just go at it!"

  They don't like being moved,but I have managed it a couple of times. Best done in early spring I understand, and try to extract the entire root system intact in one go if at all possible.

  oh ok thanks for that. Needs out now unfortunately but I have 5 of them so may try one now and leave others. Thanks
