Agree entirely Bob ; plant nomenclature has always resembled a battlefield between the 'lumpers' and the 'splitters' . Some schools of thought want to lump many species into one genus ,then others seem to make it their dying wish to create as many as possible . Minor variations in a plant , be it the shape of a leaf or the length of a spine does not warrant a new species . As said above , gene comparison is the key factor here .
