While potting on some plants yesterday I found lots of these soft eggs in the pot.........

Slug or snail eggs. Spread the compost out on a plastic sheet etc. and let the birds and sun at them. They'll either be eaten or will quickly die if left to dry out in the sun.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
