Asparagus

I planted three asparagus crowns in spring. Each threw up a tiny spear and died back. Since then, a small fern leaf grew from one crown but nothing from the others. 

Should I did then up to see if they are alive or leave them alone until spring?

    Leave them alone until the Spring. If they don't re-sprout by late March, they are probably dead - sorry.  Asparagus seem to be a bit picky where they go. I would also put a light mulch of straw/grass over each crown (or a cloche) just to protect them over the winter.
