Hi, I'm not a regular chilli/veg grower so bear with me. My OH loves hot spicy food so last month I planted some seed from shop bought chillies. (We buy alot) I planted 6 seeds. 3 I kept in the kitchen on a shelf 3 in the greenhouse.  The kitchen ones didn't fair too well but the ones in the greenhouse are doing pretty well. So I'm looking forward to seeing what I end up with of anything. Could anyone recommend a easy/beginner  variety of chilli plant to buy.   @Womble54 @BigBlueSky your specimen are really impressive. 👍

Most of the varieties I’ve tried so far have grown pretty well. I’ve never grown from seeds, just seedlings from the garden centre.

They seem to grow well in pots or in the soil, they like a nice sunny spot. I’ve just feed them with a tomato feed once they start to flower.

    Good luck.

Not sure how they’ll cope with the low light levels this winter while they’re still such young plants, but if they survive as strong plants you’ll certainly have stolen a march on the rest of us next spring  :)

Chilli jam is easy to make and good with cheese. I also dry roast chillis to store dry for cooking.

I’ve air dried a load of chillis. Not sure what to do with them now. Do you just grind them to make chilli flakes/powder?
