Turned out to.be a pumpkin when to pick

  • @jmahay the plant looks fine you can cut off that old yellow leaf and the pumpkin looks fine to just keep watering.

    A couple of pictures of mine as you can see leaves looking worse than yours but they are still growing and I will cut them in about six weeks.

    Thanks was not to sure that's why I left that brown leaf on sending another it's still growing plenty of flowers appear but just that one so so far
  • Pumpkins have two flowers male and female you can tell the difference if you look at the bottom of the flower nearest the stalk the female has a slight swelling (the embryo pumpkin) the males don't have this.

    It's a bit late now to get any that would grow to a good size so from September I cut off all the flowers that appear so that the energy goes into feeding the ones I have.

    I only have one pumpkin per plant deliberately as I grow for size and weight.

    Mine are definitely butternut unlike yours. The pic one fell off a couple of weeks ago, but it grew another one that is twice the size of the one in the picture. There is not much time left to mature it, but will give it a go.😁
