Courgettes going brown!

why are my courgettes going brown on the plant?
ive been away for 2 weeks holiday and when I’ve come back my courgettes have been going brown before they mature. It’s been very wet while we were away, so could it be lack of pollinator activity?
any ideas on why and how I can prevent it?

Sounds like poor pollination to me.

My courgettes are struggling too. Lots of mildew on the leaves, one plant has snapped the main stem under its own weight. Stilll pproducing a couple of decent sized courgette, but some rotting on the plant same as yours. Days are numbered for this year I think.

So should I cut off the rotting ones? and they hope for new ones to grow?

Yes remove the rotting ones ...

We're still getting a few good ones and if the weather picks up again we may get a few more ... absolutely no sign of mildew on our plants which are planted direct in the veg patch ... they were watered every day in the hot weather but I've not watered them at all since then.  Brilliant variety ... Romanesco ... will certainly grow them again.

My courgettes were getting to 6 inches long and them dieing. A neighbour suggested adding tomato plant feed to the watering and it worked ...a bit

I had mildew and I have cut off the offending leaves and the end of the runner that is not producing.

No point feeding and watering bits that are not producing....No slackers on my plot !!
