Last year this plant popped up in my big border, I potted it up and its grown on alot. Any Idea what it could be?.

    Looks like a Willow, Salix caprea is a good one for self seeding

    plant it in the garden only if you want a very , very large shrub growing very, very quickly.

    nope, upright and a horrible weed. IMHO.

    There is a weeping form, S. C.Pendula, the Kilmarnock willow, but they're grafted onto an "trunk" to form an umbrella shape.

    Thanks HostaFan, i don't want something that big in my garden. I won't be planting that.

    very wise. If you did have room for a tree of that size, there are tons of nicer trees than S.Caprea.

    It is a good rule that if something pops up unexpectedly in a pot, it will be goat willow.
