I came across a lot of this in my mossy parts of our garden this week and while beautiful i womderd if anyone knew what it was? Many thanks

    Hello Carl. It could be one of the wax cap group. Hygrocybe coccinea possibly.

    I thought that but they are more trumpet like and lay down a little

    Well It could be that they are passed their best and declining Carl. Hopefully there is someone on here who has a knowledge of these marvellous fungi and can give you more information. They are quite stunning to look at from your pictures.

    I think (stressing 'think') that it may be the False Chanterelle (Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca) .... often smaller and a deeper orange colour than the true chanterelle and smelling of mushrooms rather than of apricots like the true chanterelle.





    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
