Chillie peppers and sweet peppers

Red mapleRed maple Posts: 1,138
I have some chilli peppers growing well outdoors, sheltered from the wind but not the sun (the plant grew too tall for my mini greenhouse). There are plenty of fruits but they are not ripening - still very green. Should I bring them indoors or do you think they will ripen if I leave them outside?
My peppers are in the greenhouse, but they are not ripening either, still very green, yet my neighbours plants ( both chillies and peppers) are ripening really well. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can get them to ripen?
Live never grown them before.

    I’ve not live!
  • I pick my green chillies and lay them on.paper  towel on sunny windowsill.  Some ripen ,some don't  but they slowly  dry out so.I store them for cooking.  Can't  advise on the peppers.

Thank you, @tessagardenbarmy. I’ll leave them on the plant a little bit longer, but then will give your method a try, as it sounds a really good tip for drying them out to store for cooking with later.
  • Here are the remaining  chillies from last  year

Thank you for the picture, @tessagardenbarmy. Where do you store your dried chilliest?

Chillies not chilliest! (Auto correct too clever by half  :)!)
  • Hi Red Mapledurham I stick them in a screw top jam jar. You can see cotton thread on some, sewed a string of them and hung in airing cupboard  for faster results.
