I had some chisants in a pot  (indoors) when they eventually died off, I put them outside. since then new growth has appeared, what is the next best thing to do, re-pot or put into the ground?

I would re-pot them so that you can put them indoors for the winter ... many chrysanthemums sold flowering in pots aren't frost hardy.

I always understood that ones sold as house plants had been especially dwarfed, and will regrow as normal size.
