Clematis

My summer flowering clematis, Rouge Cardinal, has finished flowering and is looking sad. I’m confused by the pruning advice given on the label. It says to remove dead and weak stems in late Feb. Or early March, but then adds that after flowering you can prune to 30 cm! Which do I do please?

  • Leave it until February, then chop it hard back.  To ground level if you have buried the crown deep enough when planting.
