rhododendrons

I have three rhododendrons, potted two years again.  The first year was fine, but this year, the buds started to appear and then two of the plants turned brown and the leaves curled up. The other plant flowered but appears to be going the same way.  I'm thinking of repotting them in fresh ericaceous compost but am unsure if they csan be saved.  They certainly don't look to well at the moment.  Hope soneone can help..

Hello geoffandbarb. Welcome to the Forum. Sadly I have to say that I think the brown Rhodies shown in the pictures have had it. The bottom picture with the variegated Rhodie is also looking a bit sad. You could try repotting that one and remember that Rhododendrons so not like to be planted too deeply. It would be happy in a shaded part of the garden too. Do not overwater it as the symptoms for a plant that has been overwatered are the same as a plant showing thirst - i.e. drooping leaves. Check that the compost is not too wet. I have lost two Rhodies this Summer due to the extreme heat.
