Times to plant

in Plants
I have chosen and bought my spring flowering bulbs. When is the best month to plant Tulips and Allium. Since retirement I have a lot more time to do it properly,I used to just put them all in at the same time when I had a free afternoon.I understand it's best to plant Tulips later,I know they're short flowering, but I just love them.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.

Alliums can be planted any time really - September onwards. I've certainly planted them as early as that, but make sure the conditions are suitable for them. The right spot, and decent soil. If you have heavy, cold soil, try and find a good free draining bit for them, or cultivate an area. If that's tricky, you can put them in pots, and plant out in spring when the ground's a bit better and you can improve it
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
