Identifiation of plant please.

Can anyone in Gardeners World or on the Forum pse help me identify he plant in the attached photo.  It is a self set  but is it common, rare , a UK native and is it perennial or annual.  I hv no idea. It does not produce a flower as such but the lovely pods, the trio of pods only produce ONE seed and it is protected by a cotton wool type substance.  It is approx. 5 ft tall and a single stem plant  resembling an umberella !  All growth at the top!
Thanks in advance.  Pam

Euphorbia lathyris. The flowers are not very noticeable. It's biennial, not native, seeds about a lot

It’s a Euphorbia ... probably Euphorbia lathyris. Well known for popping up as self sown plants.

The flowers are are small but they have attractive green bracts. The white latex-like sap can cause sensitivity to sunlight if you get it on your skin.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Wonderful.  Thank you NutCutlet and Dovefrom above.  So happy to finally hv a name to the plant.  Cheers, both and thanks again.
