Victoria Plums
in Fruit & veg
My Victoria plums are still very hard, yet they look to be getting ripe but when you press them they are still hard,I wounder if its because we have had such a dry summer, has anybody else had the same problem,my smaller Victoria plum tree ripened alright with picking them a little on the green side and ripening them inside by the way they were on the small side but the plums on the other tree are a lot larger could I pick them and ripen in the greenhouse.

I have a Victoria Plum tree on my allotment plot. It's about 4m in width and height. I went today to pick the soft, more mature coloured fruit that released easy from their stems. These fruit made up less than 10% of the trees crop. So it sounds like you are not alone. I'm eager to pick more as the wasps are on the prowl - although thankfully they are largely occupied by the windfall of a neighbouring plots apple tree :-)
Kind regards.
