Purple highly scented plant

Hello, sorry I haven't posted for such a long time. I walk past a wild looking plant everyday - the flowers are purple and on tall stalks and look like lavender flowers. But they are a bit more flaky. The flowers are the most amazing scent if you rub your hand on it but I don't think it's lavender because the leaves look nothing like lavender and the plant is tall. It's all along in a row like a hedge. Can anyone tell me what it might be? I haven't taken a photo of it.

Salvia Verticillata? Agastache? A photo would help one of the resident experts identify it on the spot!

Hi all thank you. I have googled all your suggestions and think it could be Russian Sage. I will take a photo next time I go past it and come back and post the photo to confirm. The scent is so strong it's unbelievable!
