Ahhhh.......Brighamia insignis , the so-called Hawaiian Palm . Not anything to do with palms really ! Used to grow this plant years ago at a nursery in N.Yorkshire ; we kept it in an insulated greenhouse with minimum temperatures of around 12-15C . As bright a place as possible , but not direct sunlight especially under glass . Rainwater proved beneficial as they are sensitive to alkalinity . Humidity should be on the 'high-side' during the summer months .
Needs a fairly free-draining gritty growing medium , but keep just slightly damp during the winter . In its native Hawaii it grows (or grew) throughout the year , but to try to emulate their climate in the UK is nigh on impossible .
Apparently , all plants obtainable nowadays are propagations by tissue-culture , as I believe the plant is now extinct in its native habitat . Probably all the same clonotype . I read somewhere that Kew Gardens should be contacted asap if one of these plants should fortuitously set viable seed . The chances of that are very slim , but theoretically feasible ! It is now classified as one of the rarest plants around .
Look after it and lets hope you have a possible fertile clone !!
