How have your roses performed in the heatwave?

Hi all,
Here in my Yorkshire garden I have had a very poor performance from my rose bushes. I have had lovely displays in previous years but they seemed to have stalled with the extreme weather. With climate change causing more and more unusual weather I am wondering if there is any point investing in more rose bushes.
What experience have others had this year?

They got off to a good start - then the usual June pause after the first flush turned into a long wait.
Since the heatwave has passed mine are now rushing to catch up and have lots of buds ready to enjoy - so they'll probably either be drenched in rain or get frost-bite :)

Mine have been fantastic, the best display yet. They are newish plants in their 2nd year so they’ve had a deep watering once a week.

The neighbours' roses were absolutely spectacular this year.  Not doing a lot now.

One plant in particular is doing really well, with lots of repeat blooms. My others have been ok, with lovely blooms, but only had a short flowering period with them - probably the variety. I’m in Yorkshire, too.

My roses did great.........they didn't repeat though.  There have been flower buds forming over the last few weeks, so more to come.

My roses looked fantastic during June, then most went over but there are now buds on several since we had rain so I'm hopeful.

The UK’s current heatwave is my ‘normal’. Deep watering and the occasional tomato feed keep them performing pretty well, but so far (second year) they are never quite as bloom-laden as those of the UK, I don’t think. They do take a natural break in very hot weather and then I don’t feed them then as I feel, rightly or wrongly, that they deserve a break!

  • Mine were fine too, then they had a bit of a break, but now masses of buds again about to burst!
I watered profusely all through the dry spell, then gave them a granular feed about a month ago.
