Can sarracenia have too much water?

I recently set up a bog garden in a wide and shallow fibreglass bowl (55cm dia) and planted three sarracenia. they have been very happy until the torrential rain over the weekend.  The bowl is full almost to the brim with water.  I have scooped several litres out and am now wondering if I need to make some drainage holes in the pot.  I can't quite see how to do this without having to constantly top up the water to keep the plants' feet wet.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Mine sit above the water level by my pond and have always been happy.
Can you post a photo ? It might make it easier to give suggestions.

As the bowl is fibreglass, perhaps you could drill some holes just above the soil level?

  • Yes I thought about that.  I found a sarracenia 'expert' blog so I've sent him a message. Thanks for sharing your idea
