Wonderful Verbena bonariensis!

madpenguinmadpenguin Posts: 2,543
I have passed this lovely show of V.bonariensis everyday for the past few weeks. All through the hot spell too!
They are absolutely buzzing with bees and butterflies.
They are all self seeded and just left to do their thing  :)

They're certainly a lot happier than the "box"

Yes the wildlife love them. I find they self seed too much. I have some in my garden now and I have never grown it here, so it must have been from somewhere.

Haha I have the same trouble hogweed. They won’t self seed in my loamy clay at the back but will happily do so in the front paving

The box is definitely suffering. The garden is on almost solid clay and the hot dry weather has really taken its toll round here.I myself have already lost 2 established shrubs and countless smaller plants  :(

I wish mine would self seed. The only things that self-seed are pretty much things I don't want.

I have found a self seeded echinacea today, potted that one up ready to place in a better spot in spring.

They seem a short variety in the pic? Mine reach about five feet (and don't self seed)

mine self seed in the gravel drive to such an extent that I just drive over them now. Too many to prick out and grow.
