Prunus trees with not much fruit

I inherited a plum & a cherry tree when I took on an allotment last year.  Both blossomed we’ll but neither have produced much fruit.  I didn’t do anything to them over the year.  What can I do to get a better yield next year?

Hi Vittoria  :)  Looks like we're neighbours  :)

The Beast from the East caused a lot of problems for fruit trees at blossom time this year ... blossom was damaged and it was too cold for pollinating insects to be active.

I think the best thing we can do is cross our fingers for a better spring in 2019  :)

  • Thank you & nice to ‘virtually’ meet you!  This is my first year with an allotment in North Elmham.  I’ve never really grown anything before so don’t know what’s ‘normal’.  I have learnt however that one courgette plant is enough......

You live in a lovely spot  :)

I'm just south-west of Norwich.  I have a courgette cake in the oven as I type

Absolutely the best recipe ...  I know @Hostafan1 will agree with me  :D
