karl foerster grass
I want a row of Karl foesterer grass of 2.5 metres as light screening. I already have one so know it will look good in the summer. I believe I have to cut it down in February but may retain some height over autumn/winter.
They will be in either separate containers or a purpose bulit one, any suggestions around this?. And how many to buy for that area (how quickly will they fill the space?).
Thanks.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
They remain upright (and very attractive) throughout winter and I cut them down to the ground in Feb.
Very easy to divide too, but wait until they're growing well before dividing.
I bought 4 two years ago and split them last year.

Thanks Pete8 and Keen - after you cut them down, how soon before they are 'up' again? I can't remember with the one i've got. I'll not be tempted to divide the one i have and i'll get another 7 (probably next year now when they are back in stock, crikey, just had a look on crocus and they are in stock but £7-9 each). Bigger container noted - another mission to set OH onto!
They're a little late to start growing fresh green leaves, I think it was about April I first saw new growth, but they grow quickly once they start

4 look great, not so sure about the 3 on the right, they look completely different. Anyway, all having a good drink.
