Pumpkin looks like a marrow

The pumpkin I set (Sankt Martin) is growing nicely, but the fruit is a long way from the round, orange pumpkins on the cover of the seed packet. Am I growing something else or will it magically become round and orange in time? (All the fruit are like this)

That looks like a marrow ........ although the leaves don't  :/

Looks as if there may have been some cross-pollination going on at the Seed Producer's place ... which seed company are they from?

Any idea what the flesh of fruit would be like?

The only way to tell will be to try it ... my guess is it'll be more like a marrow.  Sometimes cucurbit crosses can be unpleasantly bitter ... if so don't eat them as they can cause an upset tum.

  • I think you have some rouge seed there looks like Marrow to me could just be a Naples Long they are green but tend to like a warmer climate.
'Sankt Martin' should be orange and on average 30 cm long and weight 4-8KG

I gave it lots of love and attention thinking of all the pumpkin soup I would make.

Ah well, I'll brush up on my marrow cutting skills and buy better seeds next year
