antirrariums

in Talkback
Hi Fellow Gardner's,
I am aware that Antirrariums are perianals but wondered if they are worth retaining in my borders? Do they flower as well years two as I had a lovely display this year, even now still some blooms on them. Any advice warmly received and applied where necessary.
Best regards
Ronnie

antirrhinums are better grown fresh from seed each year.
If you really want to keep it, cut it down hard after flowering.
I don't keep mine but treat them as annuals - I guess you could try but they can get very woody and I've found the colours fade.
I agree with everyone else. Just save the seed from this years and plant for next year. Sprinkle a few seeds where you have them growing now with any luck they will selfseed
Hi Peeps, Thank you very much for that helpful advice. Slugs and snails still scoffing away. I picked up 42 last night by torch light and at 07.00 this morning another 22. You just can't beat mother-nature. Yours aye Ronnie
I really struggled sowing Antirrinums, I grew them from seed and they have been in my
green house most of the summer. They were very small and weedy and seemed to take forever to get going...any tips
They don't like to be covered just sprinkled on the surface of the compost and pressed in gently. don't like to dry out either so I cover seed tray with clingfilm.
