please help me identify this plant:

    Maybe rhapis excelsa? Some sort of broad leaf palm anyway.

    Aspidistra, maybe?  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the new leaves look to be curled into tubes.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
