What is this lovely ‘weed’?

What a gorgeous colour, but what is it? That caterpillar is clearly enjoying it!

    Very pretty!
    It looks like an Oxalis - maybe this one https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/63222/i-Oxalis-triangularis-i-subsp-i-papilionacea-i/Details or something similar.

    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    It is Oxalis triangularis.
    I have it popping up all over the garden after I emptied a pot of it into my compost bin years ago!

    I grow them as houseplants, they are fascinating to watch opening and closing.

    Thank you, wonderful people! I’m quite chuffed, such a pretty weed. I shall look forward to it flowering. I take it it can be invasive though, @madpenguin ?

    Not really invasive but does pop up all over.

    If there's a caterpillar that eats them, I wonder if they'd like the little yellow flowered nuisance one that keeps popping up in my fruit patch  ;)

    If you want to pop by you can have as much as you like .... mind you, I've seen it grown as a sort of 'ground cover' in big mixed containers of mixed planting including a huge brugmansia, dahlias, ginger lilies and all sorts  ... at The Old Vicarage East Ruston
