  • Mine was planted in March alba( white one) a 7 foot whip, as told cut 2 foot off and then just water and fed. Now have 5 whips all 6 foot long and have been told to give them a summer cut to encourage flowers so 2 foot will come off them now. As the spring cut encouraged flowers, very unexpected in first year, not sure if whips need a second spring cut again next year, but if this years growth is anything to go by it will soon regain its size.
Thnk you very much for helping, will this apply to even the most young plant? It is only 2/3feet now?

So you think I will get more growth from it now? As it’s about 2/3feet as we come into cooler weather?

I would leave it now as you have already, inadvertently,  cut it back. Just keep watering and feeding till end of summer as this will encourage root growth. Which colour did you get. Where did you plant it.
