Someone recently asked me what that ‘lovely orange sage plant’ was and I was embarrassed to say I couldn’t remember! It was sold in a local GC as a Mediterranean plant with a local name, which I have forgotten. It’s about 70cm high, silver-green felty leaves. Any ideas? Thanks.

A silver leaved form of Zauschneria californica ???
  • @ Paul B3 Zauschneria californica 'Ed Carman' has grey-green leaves but they are more narrow and linear so I think it's not :/   must admit I was looking at the flower more than the leaf.

But I'm sure someone will have the answer.

Thanks Paul and HH, but I think Nut has cracked it again! Dicliptera Suberecta, or to us lesser mortals the Hummingbird Plant or Uruguayan Firecracker. I had planted it in my ‘rockery’ last year (steep crappy corner) and more or less forgotten about it as it was quite small, but this year it really is a cracker. Much obliged Nut, your plant knowledge is amazing.

    It's an illusion Nollie. If I don't know I keep quiet. :)

Ah yes, that old chestnut. Methinks you are too modest.
