Novice novice needs advice

Hi everyone, this is my 1st time using a forum so hope I get this right.  I am fairly new to gardening & want to grow cut flowers for friends & family .Last year (my first time) I managed this mainly growing Dahlias .
Can anyone help with advice on how & which variety of ranunculus to try, is there a tall verity ? Tried some last year but they were only about 8inches tall, very disappointing .

Hi ,and welcome to the forum.
"ranunculus" is the name which covers the whole of the "buttercup" family.
Can you give an idea of the sort of thing you're looking for? Maybe a photo perhaps?
    Devon.
  • Thankyou so much they look absolutely stunning, they are now on the  top of my list , they are the flower I was thinking of but I for some reason thought they were taller steamed. Ive obviously confused them with something else.
I did say I was a novice ☺. I really appreciate your help.

Good that you were able to get advice there Julia. As Hostafan says - there are so many types of Ranunculus [it's a big family!] and it would be a shame if we pointed you in the wrong direction  :)
Not something I grow - but I took a look at the link Anni posted - those are a beautiful colour.  It does say they aren't perennial, which seems odd. If you're looking for something that will come up every year, it might be worth contacting the company to have that clarified. Costly if you have to treat them as an annual!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

@juliartrichardson I think to most people (myself included) "ranunculus" means ranunculus asiaticus, as wiki says "It is a popular ornamental plant in gardens, and widely used in floristry." Ranunculus Aviv is a popular variety available in different colours.

says these are 35 cm tall
