Medium height, slim evergreen plants for privacy

Hi!

I have a very narrow bed (literally a hand and a half width) where I want to plant a few slim, thin evergreens for privacy from the neighbours path, which my front window faces.

Alternatively, I can possibly place a plant in a pot outside my window to cover it (in which case it doesn't have to be super slim, but still on the narrow side as there is not much space there).

The only think I can think of is an italian cypress, or something like https://www.homebase.co.uk/monterey-cypress-goldcrest-_p425527

Does anyone have any ideas?

My front garden is south-east facing, so lots of sun, but the plant would be in a sheltered, part shaded spot.

I really want to avoid putting up nets/voiles - I love to sit and feel surrounded by plants/shrubs...but i'm afraid I might have to.

I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions - my plant knowledge is limited, and I wonder if there are any other plants other than the 'conifer' type of plants (which I do actually like)

Thank you!

I think it might be best you post a photo of the bed. The spacing you describe is almost impossible for normal small bedding plants except low growing plants, but for a tall slim evergreen shrub, it sounds like you may need to grow them in containers. But again, it helps to see the spacing between your boundary to your window. If you have a sturdy fence or brick wall, you could attach wire or trellis to grow climbers. That could be a possibility if you have decent soil and depth.

    Hi!

Thank you, if its ok, may I place a very basic drawing here (with the worst drawn buddleia ever! yes, the one that looks like a tree)

The window that I would like privacy for has the red arrow, and the bed is the one in red stripes. There is another bush that is planted in the front facing bay window, which provides partial cover, but I haven't drawn that in.

    Thank you!

It's not quite what you're looking for, but I have a grass that grows to about 6ft, it's very narrow and stays upright - even through the storms we've had. In winter the seed heads remain and look very pretty. Mine are doing well this year and they've not had a drop of water
Cut the whole plant back to the ground in February and by April it'll be 3-4ft already.

Perhaps a tall obelisk with an evergreen climber would work?
  • A bamboo may work as you know I'm sure there are hundreds to choose from and I'm sure there is one of the clump forming types that might fit the bill.

Thank you for all your suggestions - I will have look at them all, and see what would suit the other planting that is already there.
