Just moved house and there is this shrub. Was going to remove it but it naturally formed this standard shape as we were clearing it. Now I’m thinking of keeping it. Anyone know what it is? Is it a good keeper?

Personally I’d keep it.  Bright yellow flowers in spring before the leaves grow back.  It’s in good shape at the morning but it will get ‘wild’ if you don’t prune it after flowering.  Google how to prune - dont cut off the bits that will flower the next year.

I would keep it too. I know forsythia isn't to everyones taste, but it will give you a bit of colour in the Spring against that grey wall. Are you planning on clearing the soil around it and maybe forming a bed? If so, you could plant some Spring flowering bulbs underneath to make a feature.

I'd let it acquire a more natural shape.

Thanks for all your comments. I’ve never been a fan of forsythia, but as a standard it could look nice so I’ll keep it and see how it goes. There may be a bed underneath but it’s hard to know as it could be a patio area. We’ve got ourselves a rather large garden that needs a lot of work. It’s very exciting. I’ll be putting more posts up I’d imagine soon.
