This "weed" has been growing alongside a potted laurel and I've kept it for ID purposes. I do not recall having seen it before, either in my garden or in the countryside in the vicinity. For scale, the pot is about 22 cm in diameter.
I wish I knew Papi Jo but there are some very knowledgeable people on these boards. I've got a book on wildflowers of Britain and northern Europe so will have a look tonight when I go to bed.
They say it's edible but I'm not really interested.
I'm glad I did not uproot it immediately I spotted it in that pot. Now I can add it to my local flora collection, both in my classical herbarium and my online flora.
